Severe Thunderstorm Watch for northern counties until 12 AM. Here's when storms begin in SE Texas.
A cold front is moving across the state, bringing the threat of thunderstorms that could produce hail, damaging winds, and even an isolated tornado.
Northern counties have the best chance of storms because the environment is more unstable north of I-10. There is a severe thunderstorm watch until midnight for Polk, Trinity, Brazos, San Jacinto, Walker, Grimes, Houston, and Madison Counties.
Be prepared for showers and storms approaching Huntsville, Livingston, and Trinity before 9 PM. These storms will continue to move southeastward and are expected to clear SE Texas by 1 AM.
As for Houston, we are in a more stable environment so thunderstorms will have a harder time developing.
The good news is that behind the front, the hazy skies will end, and we will see a brief break from high humidity.
We feel less sticky as we close the week—Friday highs in the upper 80s. Saturday morning feels refreshing, with morning temperatures in the 60s and highs only warming to the low and mid-80s.
As for Mother's Day - rain returns with the risk of flooding.
Stay weather alert tonight.
