Womenโ€™s History Month: KPRC 2 hired the first female sportscaster in the country given exclusive access to players โšพ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ€

When it comes to groundbreaking achievements in Houstonโ€™s history, you HAVE to include KPRC 2 in the conversation.

Weโ€™ve been trailblazers from the very start.

KPRC 2 made a historic move back in the 70s when we hired the first female sportscaster in Houston.

Anita Martini, a trailblazer in sports broadcasting, set the stage for countless women in the field.

Martini broke barriers as the first female reporter given access to menโ€™s sports locker rooms back in 1974.

What set her apart was her genuine passion for connecting with players on a personal level beyond their athletic ability.

Martini passed away in 1993.

Funeral attendees remarked on Martiniโ€™s courage, enthusiasm, and tenacity, qualities that earned admiration regardless of oneโ€™s interest in sports.
