MCKINNEY, Texas – An Amber Alert for three young children missing from McKinney was canceled after they were found safe in Houston on Saturday afternoon.
They were found on the Sam Houston Parkway near J.F.K. Boulevard in north Harris County. The children were found in the back seat of their mother's car when she was pulled over after someone recognized it from the Amber Alert.
The mother of the three children is not facing any charges. Dominique Singleton, 29, did have custody of her children, but the Amber Alert was issued because police in McKinney believed the kids may have been in danger with her.
"This was more of an Amber Alert of the welfare of the three children," Mark Herman, Harris County Precinct 4 assistant chief said.
Child Protective Services are trying to track down relatives who can stay with Singleton's three children, Carmelita, 10, Phalen, 6, and Phillip, 8, while they investigate.
"At the scene, they ended up releasing her but we ended up taking all three kids into protective custody," Herman said. "We have no charge on her at this time, not to say there won't be any charges."
