"It is truly an honor and privilege to be invited into people's homes on a daily basis and share stories that impact them. I consider myself fortunate to be able to do this in the area where I grew up," she said.

Prior to arriving at Local 2, Amanda spent seven years in central California, where she anchored the weekend evening newscasts for Fresno's KFSN-TV and delivered live reports during the week.

There, she covered everything from Central California wildfires to court cases and local/state political issues. She was also sent to Texas to cover the arrival of Hurricane Gustav in 2008.

Amanda got her first on-air television job in Victoria, Texas, where she anchored and produced the evening newscasts for KAVU-TV. During her time in Victoria, Amanda covered the nation's deadliest human smuggling tragedy and got blown around in her first hurricane.

During her senior year at SHSU, Amanda was awarded with the school's Dan Rather internship, allowing her to travel to New York City and work at CBS News/48 Hours. While finalizing her studies, she also worked behind the scenes as an editor here at Local 2.

Amanda is married to a fellow El Campo High School graduate and lives in Fort Bend County. During her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, knitting, and spending time with her two small dogs.
