Astros fans prepare hours before Game 1 in LA

LOS ANGELES – Astros and Dodgers fans made their way down to Dodger Stadium Tuesday hours before the showdown.

Houstonians attending Game 1 of the World Series either arrived Monday night on Tuesday, according to fans who spoke with KPRC2 News reporter Sophia Beausoleil.

Astros fan Jay Johnson said he arrived in Los Angeles Tuesday morning and have been touting his suitcase after getting off his flight. He said he bought a round-trip ticket to support the team in Game 1 and Game 3 on Friday in Houston.

“Sunday morning, I actually started searching to find plane tickets, so I got lucky and I found a non-stop that left at 7 got me here by 8 a.m. and I found one out on Wednesday," Johnson said.

Johnson paid a big price for tickets, but said it's all worth it.

“Really excited this is actually my first World Series game that I’m going to get to go to, and I get to go with two of my best friends,” he said. "It’s kind of surreal. It hasn't hit me yet."

Johnson said he's been catching some heat from Dodgers fans as he entered their territory.

“I mean, it even started on the airplane, the stewardesses were giving me a hard time and people in the cars were yelling 'Go Dodgers.' I like it. I want to stand out in the crowd. That’s why I wore bright orange today. I want them to know that the Houston fans are here,” Johnson said.
