HOUSTON – Officials held a press conference on Thursday's ruling by a judge that overturned Houston's drainage Fee.
The tax was to pay for improvements to drainage and streets.

Homeowners paid an extra fee every month to cover that cost.
A judge now has ruled that the city used deceptive ballot language in the 2010 election.
This means that a new election will have to be held if the city wants to re-impose the drainage fee.
Mayor Parker issued a statement Thursday that read, "We are disappointed with the court's ruling and are considering our legal options, including a possible appeal. This case places at risk the voter approved amendment to the City Charter that prohibits the City from using debt financing or spending the drainage fee on anything other than street and drainage improvements. Those two issues have nothing to do with whether the city is able to continue the Rebuild Houston program and the collection of the drainage fee. The ordinance remains valid and in effect."
