Authorities release sketch of people involved in multiple thefts

HOUSTON – Deputy constables with Precinct 2 are investigating 31 thefts where a group of men stole tires and car rims from vehicles in Southeast Harris County within the last 14 months.

Investigators released surveillance video of two of the men in the act on Windy Spring Lane in the Riverstone Ranch subdivision at 4 a.m. on Dec. 18.

The men busted the locks on a Chevrolet pickup truck and stole the tires and chrome rims, investigators said.

From the video, investigators created two composite sketches of the men involved in most of the thefts.

In all 31 incidents, a group of four to six men targeted Chevy and GMC pickup trucks and SUVs. Investigators said the men used a similar technique in each case.

“They’re using landscaping bricks. They’re bringing them with them. There have been a few instances where maybe something didn’t work with one of them. They’ll pull one out of your garden. They’ll pull two or three out of your garden and stack them up. They know what they’re doing,” said investigator Wayne Pacifico.

In one instance, investigators said it only took the men two minutes to steal all four tires.

Investigators said owners can protect their vehicles by writing their name or address on the wheel and parking in a lit area or in a garage.

If you recognize the men or have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
