HOUSTON – Afternoon showers and storms down the coast from Galveston near Matagorda Bay will continue to sag south as dry air filters into southeast Texas.
The dry air is associated with a cold front that will continue to drift into the Gulf of Mexico and bring Houston some brief relief from our typical, oppressive August humidity.

Morning low temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will drop into the mid and upper 60s north of Houston. In the city expect lows to be near 70 degrees and, at the immediate coast, lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.
Afternoon high temperatures through Thursday will remain seasonable, in the mid 90s. However, with humidity levels lower than normal, the weather will feel much more comfortable than usual for this time of year.
The heat index, or "feels like" readings will be between 95 and 100 degrees instead of the usual 104 degree readings we're used to.
With dry air in place, rain is not likely through mid-week. Isolated sea breeze showers may return to the area later in the week as humidity levels begin to increase.
