One dead after shooting at Valero gas station in SE Houston

HOUSTON – Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a man near a Valero gas station Friday night.

It happened at around 10 p.m. near the Valero at Yellowstone and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards.  Police responded to a call about a shooting. When they arrived on the scene they found a man in his 20s dead on the sidewalk.

David Stark of the Houston Police Department told Local 2 they believe the shooting started at the gas station, then spilled over to Yellowstone Boulevard, where the man was found dead.

"I heard a lot of fast shots, maybe 10 or 12," said LaDetra Norton, who was staying at her mother's house nearby.

Some stray bullets shattered windows of a car parked in Norton's driveway.  One of the bullets also went straight through their front window.  "The bullet went right above the television where both of my kids were sitting on the couch watching TV," Norton said.

None of the nearby residents were injured.

Investigators are hoping video surveillance from the gas station will help them track down the shooter.  As of right now they don't have a motive or any witnesses.  If you have any information, call Houston police.
