Suspect named in attack that killed father of 2 at Tomball Walmart

TOMBALL, Texas – Tomball police identified a man they said is responsible for an attack at a Walmart that killed a father of two.

Justin Jones was inside the store about 1 a.m. Monday, when police said someone came up behind him and hit Jones in the head.

Jones was rushed to an area hospital, but he died from his injuries several hours later.

“He didn’t deserve it at all,” said Lindsey Stover, Jones’ girlfriend. “Somebody came from behind and hit him, he had quite a few hits to the head.”

Tomball police released a photo from the store’s surveillance cameras, showing a man walking out of the Walmart with a white motorcycle helmet in his right hand. Detectives asked for the public’s help to identify him.

On Tuesday, police said they had identified the suspect as Michael Brandon Jemison, 29. Police said Jemison was expected to turn himself in Tuesday afternoon, but he never showed up at the police station.

Investigators said the attack was not random and they believe Jemison knew Jones.

Stover said she doesn’t know him.

“I’m hoping someone will own up to what they did,” Stover said. “I want answers.  I want to know who did it.”

Jones leaves behind two young sons and a girlfriend who is devastated by the sudden loss.  Police are still investigating and asking anyone with information to give them a call.

In a statement, a Walmart spokesperson said, “We’re saddened by what happened inside our store and our thoughts are with the customer’s family. We are cooperating with the Tomball police in their investigation and encourage anyone with information to contact authorities”

“He was so full of life, he was happy,” Stover said. “He wanted to make everyone smile, he wanted to make everyone happy.”
