From World Series to wedding: Justin Verlander sits down with 'Today' show

NEW YORK – Astros pitcher Justin Verlander stopped by the "Today" show to talk about the whirlwind of a month he’s had.

From Oct. 24 to Nov. 1, the Astros faced off against the L.A. Dodgers in an epic seven-game World Series battle, which the Astros won.

A week after winning the World Series, Verlander married supermodel Kate Upton, and is now on the "Today" show to top it off.

He said that the wedding was planned before the postseason, and knew that Game 7 was the only thing that could throw everything off.

"Today" show host Matt Lauer asked Verlander, “What was more nerve racking, standing on the mound at the World Series or at the altar?”

Verlander laughed, acknowledged his wife, and said that it was definitely the World Series.

He said “the outpouring of love” from Houston as incredible, adding that people needed something to cheer about.

“For us to go that far and win it all, it really can connect a sports team and a city and we’ll always be linked for that,” he said.

At the beginning of the interview, Lauer said that if Verlander had a memoir about his life, it would be called “Crushing It” to describe Verlander’s month.
