HOUSTON – A gas leak snarled traffic for motorists on the west side Wednesday.
The leak forced the closure of westbound traffic on the I-10 Katy Freeway at Highway 6 around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The Houston Police Department said they received a call about the leak, which is coming from under the freeway, around 2:35 p.m.

CenterPoint Energy said it has stopped the gas leak and has started making repairs. The I-10 freeway reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
CenterPoint Energy officials sent a technician and a repair crew to the scene.
Traffic was backed up nearly to the West Loop. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes.
