LA PORTE, Texas – A shelter-in-place order has been lifted after a pipe leak occurred at a chemical plant in the city of La Porte, officials said.
Around 4 p.m., officials said they received a call about a pipeline leak.

The order applied to the area of State Highway 225 and State Highway 146. Police said this is an area bordered by Farrington Road on the West, North Avenue H on the south and Highway 146 on the East.
The chemical being released was Anhydrous Hydrogen Chloride, authorities said. Possible symptoms of exposure are eye, throat, and nasal irritation.
Officials were asking people to take the nearest shelter, close all doors and windows and turn off heating or cooling systems. People in La Porte were being asked to stay off phones in order to receive updates.
No injuries were reported, and the Harris County Pollution Control was on scene monitoring air quality.
The leak was contained with the assistance of the Harris County Hazardous Material Response Team.
The leak was contained, the shelter in place was lifted, and all roadways were opened just after 7 p.m. The company responsible for the line and the cause of the leak is being investigated and will be determined at a later date, according to officials.
