TOMBALL – A local wounded soldier has receive an amazing gift, thanks to a generous program.
Army Staff Sergeant Travis Palmer and his family were surprised with the announcement of a new, mortgage-free home on Wednesday morning.
Sergeant Palmer had no idea when he pulled into a Tomball subdivision, he would be arriving to the ground breaking ceremony of his new home.
He has been deployed to Germany, Korea, and twice to Iraq with.
Now, with the help of Pulte Homes, HEB, and Operation Finally Home, the husband and father of four, has the opportunity to build a strong foundation for his family.
"I know what it means to me, this means security, a place i can call home," said Sergeant Palmer.
The family will soon move into a new five bedroom, three bath home, which will be extremely spacious compared to the apartment all six of the Palmer's have been living in.
It's the american dream that his wife still can't believe is a reality.
"I'm overwhelmed with joy, I'm happy, I'm shocked," said his wife Toni Palmer.
The home is scheduled to be finished in October.
HEB Operation Appreciation, a company-wide campaign created to honor the brave men and women of the armed forces through the contribution of time, talent and financial support, plans to donate eight homes in Texas this year.
