The fire happened around 4 p.m. at the Pine Terrace Apartments near West Bellfort Avenue and Stella Link Road.

According to HFD authorities, the fire, labeled a 2-11 alarm, prompted an immediate response from multiple HFD units.

It was first reported on Facebook by Grizzy’s Hood News.

When KPRC 2 arrived on scene, at least six units appeared to be damaged.

We reached out to Houston Fire and American Red Cross to ask how many people were displaced.

“We were trying to get everybody out,” said Irving Van, who lives in one of the damaged units. “That was my main thing.”

Van and his mother were displaced as a result of the fire.

“My mom’s handicapped. So I had to get her out in the wheelchair,” said Van.

Families were seen trying to salvage anything they could after the fire.

Neighbors tell KPRC 2 the fire rapidly grew and caused plumes of black smoke.

Houston Fire said one person was hurt and taken to Memorial Hermann hospital. There were no other reported injuries.

American Red Cross was on scene assisting.

Van said the fire is devastating but he is trying to stay positive.

“I know God is going to watch us and take care of us and do what he need to do for us,” said Van.
