An autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman’s cause of death.

Her identity is also pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Police say it is unclear at this time if this is the same woman who was reportedly swept away in Brays Bayou during high water last Friday.

The department’s homicide division is also involved in the investigation, which is standard procedure when a body is discovered under unclear circumstances.
