Aldine ISD teacher accused of giving student birthday lap dance in class

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – An Aldine Independent School District teacher is accused of giving a middle school student a lap dance on his birthday in front of other students.

Court documents show Felicia Smith, 42, was charged with improper relationship with a student on Thursday. Court records state Smith performed a nearly 4-minute long lap dance for a 15-year-old boy on Feb. 26 at Stovall Middle School.

The boy told Aldine ISD police that Smith performed the lap dance in front of an entire class on his birthday.

During the dance, Smith played music and the boy told police she hugged him and said, "I love you baby, Happy Birthday."

On Friday, outside Aldine ISD's Stovall Elementary School, several parents and students voiced their support for Smith.

"She made a mistake, but she was a good teacher," Caroline Pena said.

Technically, Smith is still a teacher. An Aldine ISD spokesperson said Smith is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

Smith has been charged but not convicted in the case.

Court records show that Smith admitted to police that she gave the student a lap dance on his birthday after the class "convinced her to do it."

Smith told police she remembered "circling the student while he was sitting in the chair and losing her balance a few times which made the students laugh."

When asked if the dance was a misunderstanding or if the allegations were false Smith said, "no comment."

Authorities said the "full contact lap dance lasted approximately 3.54 minutes," and they have the incident on videotape. Court documents allege "Smith got on her two knees and placed her head between his legs."

Aldine ISD released the following statement Friday morning:
"A criminal charge of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student has been filed against a Stovall Middle School teacher. The charge was filed by Aldine Independent School District Police, who investigated the case along with the campus administration. The teacher was removed from the campus during the investigation and has not returned. The district takes this allegation seriously and is fully cooperating with prosecutors. The safety and security of our students will continue to be a top priority in Aldine ISD."

Smith posted a $30,000 bond on Thursday.

She appeared before a judge Friday morning.
