MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A man who was booked at the Montgomery County Jail earlier this week on a charge related to counterfeit money has been found dead, officials said Friday.
Jail workers conducting their security rounds discovered an unresponsive Phillip Carl Tucker on Thursday evening, and facility medical staffers tried to save him on-site before he was rushed by ambulance to the Conroe Regional Hospital, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Tucker was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and pronounced dead about 10:15 that night, officials said.
His cause of death hasn’t been confirmed. Officials are waiting on results from a toxicology test and an autopsy, investigators said.
Tucker was booked into the jail Monday. He was arrested by the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables Office and accused of forgery/counterfeit of a governmental document, namely U.S. currency, investigators said.
Texas Rangers are looking into Tucker’s death, as well as the Sheriff’s Office.
