HOUSTON – A man convicted of killing a car dealership manager has been sentenced to life in prison.
Keith Edward Grimmett, 49, was convicted of murder in the 2012 death of Robert Kuentz. He plead guilty in the case in July 2013.
In a police interrogation video played by prosecutors in the court Monday, Grimmett told investigators he was furious with his boss, Robert Kuentz, because he, "Called me out in front of everybody... he treated me like he was a manager and I was a piece of trash".
On Monday, Grimmett was given the life sentence by a judge.
"Gives us peace that justice can be done. He got life in prison, and we got life... we got life also," said the victim's father after the sentencing.
Investigators say on Nov. 19, 2012, Kuentz and Grimmett got into an argument over Grimmett's sales numbers at Mac Haik's pre-owned dealership in the 11700 block of the Katy Freeway, between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford. The following day, Nov. 30, 2012, police say Grimmett shot Kuentz in the neck, then left the dealership.
Police say they tracked down Grimmett a few hours after the shooting and arrested him.
