The vehicle traveled off the road and into the grass before hitting a concrete base that houses the Harris County Toll Road camera, authorities said.

The vehicle caught fire just after it collided with the pole.

Witnesses broke the glass and pulled Johnson out of the vehicle just before the fire got to him, deputies said.

According to officials, the witnesses performed CPR until EMS crew members took over.

Johnson was transported to East Houston Regional Medical Center where he died.

Deputies believe alcohol might have been a factor that led to the crash.
