Militia groups plan to patrol power plants

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The 13th anniversary of 9/11 is Thursday.

Sources within the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office tell Local 2 there is some intelligence indicating that power grids could be targeted by terrorists. Patrols around them are being stepped up as a result.

Sources confirm that deputies have been told to be on the lookout for armed militia members who may out patrolling these locations as well in an attempt to keep them secure.

Local 2 has learned that a group calling itselfTexas Defense Forces contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office stating that a team of Texas Republic militia was planning to make location surveys of all power grids adjacent to The Woodlands.

An Entergy spokesperson released the following statement:

"We take all appropriate actions to protect our property and we will continue working closely with law enforcement."

KPRC contacted a representative with Texas Defense Forces for a statement and are awaiting responsive.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received an email from Texas Defense Forces that said militia members would provide valid identification and cooperate with authorities.
