AUSTIN, Texas – A Monocled cobra found dead near the parking lot of a Lowe's in Austin is most likely the same snake owned by a teen who may have died from a snake bite, KXAN reports.
The snake was found around 2:40 a.m. Friday on the side of Interstate 35, where the Lowe's is located.

It is quite possibly the same snake owned by Grant Thompson, an 18-year-old who was found in his car suffering from puncture wounds on his wrist. Thompson was taken to a nearby hospital and died a short time later. Authorities believe he was bitten by a snake, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined.
Inside Thompson's car, which was parked in the parking lot of the Lowe's, authorities found a nonvenomous snake, six tarantulas and one bullfrog, but the cobra was unaccounted for.
Authorities say it is not likely there is another monocled cobra in the same area. They feel the dead snake found is the one that belonged to the teen.
Family members say Thompson wanted to own an exotic pet store.
