Every year, on the day the fair begins accepting applications, there is a line of parents waiting for the door to open at the fair's main office. Many even camp out overnight.
The fair accepts the first 100 qualified applicants. Each applicant must turn in an official entry form, entry fee and a "Release of Liability" form. Those forms are on the fair's website. Applicants should download the forms, fill them out, and bring them on application day.
The fair will begin accepting applications at 8 a.m. on Aug. 15.
Children who compete need to meet these requirements: 4 to 7 years old; weighing less than 55 pounds on the day of the competition.
The Fort Bend County Fair is Sept. 29 through Oct. 8.
