HOUSTON – A hotel that will be built in downtown Houston will have a lazy river on the roof.
Houston City Council approved a plan Wednesday to move forward with a plan to build at hotel that will be connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Construction on the 1,000-room Marriott Marquis will begin in 2014.
The hotel will have a rooftop lazy river, which is a water ride, in the shape of the state of Texas.
The hotel will create about 700 permanent jobs and more than 1,800 construction jobs.
The hotel is expected to open in Spring 2016.
