Phillip Mena began as the weekend anchor and reporter for KPRC 2 News on April 23, 2012.

Phillip is a native Texan, born in El Paso, so he was proud to continue his career in the Lone Star State.

He moved to Houston after working in his hometown of El Paso at KTSM and KDBC. He also anchored for KVEO in the Rio Grande Valley area.

Phillip attended the University of Texas at El Paso and Arizona State University. He graduated with a broadcast journalism degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU.

Phillip said he liked "the randomness" of his job the most.

"It's always cool when our work does some good. Always," he said.

When asked about his family life and if he was married, Phillip joked, "Ask me again in about five years."

In his spare time, Phillip said he likes "learning, fantasy football and going to shows."
