LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – Leobardo Ovido Gonzalez's body was recovered from a pond near Highway 105 and County Road 318 in Liberty County on Thursday.
Police said that around 9:50 a.m., multiple people called in reports of a man disappearing under the water without resurfacing.

According to the police, a scuba diver from the Cleveland Fire Department found Gonzalez's body around 11:45 a.m. near where he was last seen.
Police said Gonzalez, 60, is from the Conroe area and that his family was notified.
Police said it appears Gonzalez was kayaking alone in the retention pond when, at some point, he fell out of the kayak. It is also possible that he slipped and fell while preparing the kayak.
Gonzalez's cause of death is pending an autopsy.
