DALLAS – A man and woman were killed Monday in a murder-suicide at a Dallas office building, according to police.
The shooting was reported about 10:45 a.m. near the intersection of Interstate 635 and Schroeder Road in northern Dallas.
KXAS-TV reported that police said during a news conference that a man walked into the building and shot and killed a woman, who was his supervisor, and then killed himself.
The shooting prompted a massive response from both law enforcement and emergency crews. People were evacuated from the building, while heavily armed police were seen running on streets near the building. Police also blocked off nearby streets.
KXAS-TV reported that police were treating the call as an active-shooter situation, but gave the all-clear about two hours later.
Bailee Christian told KXAS-TV that she heard two gunshots. She said she could hear screaming when she heard the second shot.
Another person said they saw blood in an elevator as police escorted them from the building.
Authorities did not immediately release the identity of either the gunman or the victim.
Both KXAS-TV and The Associated Press contributed to this story.
