Shipley Do-Nuts is OK: Soon served in Oklahoma

HOUSTON – Houston-based Shipley Do-Nuts will soon be satisfying many a sweet tooth in another state.

The company already has 290 stores in Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. Now it's expanding to Oklahoma.

Shipley is spreading the word on social media. A post on its Instagram page says: "Oh, hey Oklahoma! Nice to meet you. We can't wait to see you in April. You ready?!"

The company isn't stopping there. Maybe another state is next? In a news release, it said it currently has 28 stores under development and has plans to reach 400 stores by 2020.

Shipley Do-Nuts is a Houston success story. Its rich history is explained on its website: "It was 1936, the end of the Great Depression, when Lawrence Shipley, Sr. created a gourmet recipe for Do-Nuts. So delicious were the Do-Nuts that they have withstood the test of time."

Decades later, the company has stayed in the family and continues to serve its mouth-watering doughnuts to Houston and beyond.
