HOUSTON – Police said a son shot and killed his father in southeast Houston as the two were cleaning a gun.
Police said Carlos Zetino, Sr., 39, and his two sons were cleaning the 9mm pistol when it accidentally went off, the bullet hitting Zetino, Sr. in the abdomen. His sons called 911 and tried to perform CPR, officials said.
"While we were trying to help him out and give him CPR, that was his last breath. He took his last breath and said 'I love you son.' He said that. And it hurts me, it hurts me hard man," son Carlos Zetino, Jr. said.
Zetino Sr. was pronounced dead at the hospital.
"That’s my dad, I don’t have my mom. My dad was the only person I talked to." Zentino Jr. said. "Just my best friend right there, without him I’m nothing. I feel like I should have taken that bullet."
Police are calling the shooting a tragic accident. No charges have been filed.
