HOUSTON – Two juniors at Worthing High School are accused of fighting with a schoolmate and are facing felony charges.
Alliyah Baker, 17, and Natasia Lewis, 17, are accused of beating up a 14-year-old freshman.
However, Lewis told KPRC 2 News that she is innocent because her friend Baker and the freshman were the only two fighting and she was just trying to stop it.
"I'm not hitting, not pulling hair, not doing anything. I'm just breaking them apart," said Lewis.
She said the fight happened between classes when the freshman confronted Baker.
"Her and the girl they see each other, they run towards each other, they start taking off. They fight. They punching each other and everything. They're fighting," Lewis said.
Houston ISD police officers arrested both girls. They were both charged with injury to a child and they spent two days in jail.
Lewis said she shouldn't have gotten involved when her friend got into the fight and is now worried about how the looming criminal charge will affect her in the future.
"How are you going to get a job with a felony on your record?" she asked.
In addition to criminal charges, HISD said, "the students were disciplined appropriately."
