Transgender woman attacked in north Houston

HOUSTON – A Montrose woman believes she was targeted for robbery and sexual assault because she is transgender.

"He knew I was trans upfront and wanted to "meet me" and it was essentially a setup," the woman posted publicly from a social media account.

KPRC is not identifying the woman because of the nature of the crime.

According to police, the alleged victim had posted a personal ad on an "anonymous dating" website and was contacted by Denzel Boone, 23.

According to court documents, Boone is accused of meeting the woman at an apartment complex at 13030 Northborough Drive on March 14 then sexually assaulting and robbing her.

Boone is also accused of severely injuring the woman after punching her in the face repeatedly.

She suffered a broken nose and fractured orbital bone around the eye.

"She escaped, quite frankly, by stabbing the attacker with the point of an umbrella then got in her car, crashed through a gate and got away," Ray McCallister, friend of the victim, said.

Boone is now wanted on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

A police source said that two local law enforcement agencies were checking to see if similar crimes could be linked to Boone.

"This person is a danger. He needs to be rounded up or he's going to keep attacking women," McCallister said.
