Man arrested in violent SW Houston purse snatching caught on camera

HOUSTON – A woman was knocked to the ground and was almost struck by a vehicle during a robbery in southwest Houston on Feb. 23, according to Houston police.

The woman was removing water jugs from her trunk at the Texas Pure Water in the 6800 block of Ranchester Drive around 11:20 a.m. when a white Jeep pulled up behind her vehicle, police said.

A man got out of the driver's side back seat of the Jeep, opened the woman's driver's side door and took her purse, according to police.

When the woman saw what was happening, she attempted to stop the man, but tripped as the man was getting back into the Jeep, according to police.

The Jeep then left the scene at a high rate of speed, police said. The woman was almost struck by the SUV, according to police.

Germarcus Earl was arrested Tuesday in connection with the case and charged with aggravated robbery over 65 or disabled. He was being held in jail without bond.
