HOUSTON – The Souper Bowl of Caring is the largest single fund raiser for the Houston Food Bank and that’s a very good thing, said Amy Ragan, the chief development officer of the organization. “On any given day in our area there are 66,000 people who are hungry and a thousand of those are children.”
Ragan tells Houston Newsmakers host Khambrel Marshall that the need has grown. “We probably serve close to a million people annually who need food assistance for one reason or another,” she said. Ragan said donations are always needed and that a $1 donation helps the Food Bank provide three meals for families that need it.
