HOUSTON – Houston Texans defensive lineman JJ Watt was wearing a cast on his left hand Thursday and missed team practice.
Watt said he broke his hand and that he will still play in the Sunday Night Football game against the New England Patriots on KPRC 2.
"I broke my hand at practice yesterday and I'll play the game on Sunday," Watt said. "In this game, you're going to play with pain. If you don't, you're probably playing the wrong sport."
Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he also expects Watt to play in the game.
"I don't think it (injury) will affect him," O'Brien said.
Watt hasn't missed a game in his career. He said he's suffered worse injuries.
"People are going to make a big deal out of this, but I've played with worse," Watt said, referring to his elbow injury.
We'll update this story as we gather more information.
