The Texas Southern University football team begins their regular season training this week. First-year head coach Michael Haywood says that the Tigers have maintained their offseason conditioning, and have come to camp with a positive mindset and are ready to get to work.
Although new to TSU, Haywood is no stranger to the game. He coached the Miami Redhawks where he was named the 2010 Mid-American conference coach of the year. He hopes to bring a culture of hard work and determination that extends to every aspect of his player’s lives.
The Tigers kick off their season against division rivals Prairie View A&M, who TSU struggled with last season, but Haywood treats them like any other opponent he faces.
The Tigers take on the Panthers at Prairie View on Sept. 3.
