HOUSTON – There are plenty of ways to have a romantic Valentine's Day dinner in Houston without breaking the bank.
Consumer Expert Amy Davis scoured the restaurant reservation website Open Table for the best deals on Valentine's menus. On average, a meal will cost more than $63 per person in the Houston-area.
However, couples can find cheaper options. All weekend long, Buca di Beppo's restaurants in the Woodlands and on Buffalo Speedway are offering heart-shaped lasagna, salad, garlic bread and two miniature cannolis for $48, or just $24 per person.
True Food Kitchen near the Galleria is offering a three-course meal for $25 per person. The restaurant specializes in healthy fare, with a lot of gluten-free and vegetarian options.
The El Big Bad on Travis Street is known for its fresh Mexican fare, and this weekend for its affordability. The restaurant is serving up a three-course surf-and-turf for $30 per person.
The House of Blues Crossroads restaurant lets diners listen to live music while enjoying a chef-inspired menu with surf, turf and sparkle. The meal costs $80 per couple, and includes a New York strip, pan-seared fish, lobster mac and cheese, truffles for dessert and a bottle of Prosecco to wash it down.
Of course, couples can always skip the food and go right to drinks and dessert. The Whiskey Bar Reserve 101 on Caroline Street is offering four samples of American whiskeys paired with chocolates. The tasting experience will set couples back $75.
