HOUSTON – Houston’s water department made good on a promise to fix a local homeowner’s water main leak after 7 months and after KPRC 2 called them to ask what was taking so long.

Johnny Sutton told KPRC 2′s Corley Peel that a water main burst in his yard last summer and water had been bubbling up in his yard since.

“It’s depressing. You call people and they don’t check it out or nothing,” Johnny Sutton told KPRC 2 reporter Corley Peel.

Sutton says the water department came out a couple of times when he called, but only to take pictures.

His swampy yard over time became unnerving. The water also ran off into the street. Sutton had to jump across a pool of water to get from the street to his driveway.

Public Works officials told Corley last Thursday they’d have to leak fixed by Monday. Well, they did better than that - they were out in less than 24 hours to fix Sutton’s leak.
