HOUSTON – According to National Day Calendar Monday is National Veggie Burger Day. From backyard barbecues, tailgate parties, and on the menus of some high-class restaurants veggie burgers are popping up all over Houston and are packed with flavor, protein, and nutrients.
Here are four places in Houston you can enjoy a veggie burger today!

Red Robin - Here at Red Robin you can turn any signature or classic burger and substitute the patty for either Impossible meat or an ancient-grain-and-quinoa veggie patty. My personal favorite is a Burning Love burger (fried jalapeño coins, house-made salsa, pepper-Jack, lettuce, tomatoes and chipotle aioli) no tomato, no lettuce, sub Impossible, sub brioche bun with fries and baja ranch (salsa ranch). It’s no longer on the menu, but if you ask nicely they will usually make it!
Hopdoddy Burger Bar - At Hopdoddy you have the same option as Red Robin, turn any of their burgers or bowls into a veggie burger delight with an Impossible patty. My go-to at Hopdoddy is the Goodnight/Good Cause burger (Tillamook cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, jalapeños, caffeinated BBQ sauce, Doddy Mayo, lettuce & tomato) hold the lettuce and tomato, sub Impossible with truffle fries to share. If I am in the mood for something lighter the Goodnight/Good Cause Bowl sub Impossible, sub brussel sprouts is amazing!
Smashburger - Smashburger has the best black bean burger around. With a menu dedicated to the black bean burger, there’s no option you could go wrong with. Here I love the Truffle Mushroom Swiss Black Bean Burger (black bean patty, aged Swiss cheese, sautéed crimini mushrooms, truffle mayo, toasted bun) with fries. The way the swiss and mushrooms melt gloriously with the burger is divine.
The Impossible Shop - Dog Haus has partnered up with Impossible to bring a new experience to dining. The Impossible Shop is a ghost kitchen serving up all things Impossible. From The Impossible Pat-B Melt (Impossible patty, cola-caramelized onions, plant-based cheese sauce, and dill pickle on grilled sourdough bread) to Impossible Chili Cheese Fries and Sticky Sesame Impossible Nuggets, there is something for everyone to try. You’ll have to order online or through DoorDash for delivery or pickup to enjoy all they have to offer.
If you have never tried a veggie burger, this is the day!
