In his latest viral video, fishing enthusiast Hunter Ham and his family encountered an unexpected visitor at Sea Rim State Park. While enjoying a day at the beach, they stumbled upon an alligator feasting on a bull redfish.

Ham couldn’t resist getting closer to the alligator to capture the moment on video for his fishing channel. Ham described the trip as a normal day on the beach, finding massive seashells and as they were leaving the family noticed the alligator lounging on the beach, enjoying a snack.

“I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, I gotta go look at this thing’. My family had stayed in the truck at first and I got out and took a picture,” Ham said. “But then I thought I should take a quick video since I have a fishing channel.”

Remarkably, it was the first time Ham had encountered an alligator on a beach, adding to the excitement of the day.

With his daughters excitedly chanting “alligator,” Ham joked about his youngest daughter’s adventurous spirit, suggesting she’d attempt to ride the reptile if given the chance. As he approached the motionless alligator, he realized it had a bull redfish in its mouth, a sight familiar to him from years of fishing in Southeast Texas.

“I could tell it was a massive redfish in his mouth. I don’t know where the rest of the body went,” Ham said. “But that’s all I can see and he just slowly started gulping it down.”

“The alligator kind of looked like a statue as it wasn’t moving at all when I first walked up to it. I knelt to get a better look and could tell its mouth was open and there was a circular object in it,” Ham said. “From a distance, the first thought was that it was a turtle. I got a little closer and realized it was a bull redfish. I’ve been fishing in Southeast Texas since I could hold a fishing rod and I’ve been catching them my whole life.”
