HOUSTON – Maya Angelou, activist and author of books such as “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,” is the latest addition to Barbie’s “Inspiring Women” collection.
According to Mattel, the doll pays tribute to Angelou for her numerous honorary doctorates. She earned a Presidential Medal of Freedom for her 1970 autobiography and became the first African-American poet to speak at a U.S. Presidential Inauguration for Bill Clinton in 1993.
