The appearance of Westbury Square, once a bustling shopping village for Houstonians, is unrecognizable
According to Arch-Ive.org, the popularity of Westbury Square began to decline after the opening of the Galleria mall during the early 1970s and eventually became completely abandoned.

Now an unkempt collection of buildings, the former shopping destination is described as “the biggest scar in the area” by Westbury neighborhood residents.

In its heyday, Westbury Square was advertised as a must-see international shopping experience located in Houston.
Its directory featured 50 stores, ranging from candle shops and women’s fashion.
According to a brochure found on Arch-Ive.org, shoppers could find gifts imported from more than 40 countries at shops like Oriental Arts and Artisan De Mexico.
In addition to boutiques and shops, Westbury Square was also a hub for restaurants and sweet treats.
