NASSAU BAY – If you’re headed to Space Center Houston this weekend or visiting the Clear Lake area in general, make sure to stop by this particular McDonald’s location -- but not just for the Big Mac’s or the McFlurry’s.

Instagrammers and photo-savvy users will want the opportunity to take a picture of the giant NASA astronaut placed right in front of the restaurant, delighting visitors near and far right off NASA Parkway near Johnson Space Center in Nassau Bay.

The astronaut is seen holding a serving of medium-sized fries and sporting a NASA spacesuit.

Images on Instagram from Bent Fabrication Studio, the company that worked on the statue, showed progress from its conception in dated photos from August of 2021 to the finishing touches on July 18.

The City of Nassau Bay encourages residents and visitors to see the statue for themselves. Parking will be provided for those who simply want to snap a photo.

“We encourage all of our residents and visitors to check out the astronaut, take photos/selfies, and if you get a shot you really love, tag us with #visitnassaubay and #nassaubaytx!” The city said in their Facebook post.

You can visit at 1301 NASA Parkway near Nassau Bay Drive, just a block from Space Center Houston.
