This comes from a Saturday morning statement posted on the Gallery Furniture Facebook page encouraging Houstonians to show “kindness and southern hospitality” to visitors coming to Houston for the World Series, including Philadelphia Phillies fans.

After the Astros became world champions, beating the Phillies 4-1 in Game 6 of the World Series, he won $75 million dollars after making a $10 million dollar bet earlier in the year

“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve all of you every day.

“From the annual Christmas giveaways, taking pictures daily with fellow Houstonians and Texans at Gallery Furniture North Freeway, refunding tens of millions of dollars since we started these promotions, from Hurricane Harvey to Hurricane Imelda to the winter ice storm and everything in between —

“You’ve always been there for me, for your neighbor, for your community, for our city, for our state, for our country - and I’m grateful to you. With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart, I’m sincerely grateful to you.

“I love Houston. As I’ve said in many speeches, Linda and I sacrificed in many ways to try to be the best leaders for the community, for the city, for our employees, and for our children that we could. Thank you to my children and thank you to my Gallery Furniture family. I love all of you, and I wouldn’t be who I am without YOU. All of you.

“Thank you to my parents, who I know are smiling down on me and us from Heaven. Thank you to my brother George, who I know is also smiling down on me and us from Heaven, and with whom I’m so proud to share this victory. Thank you to all my brothers and sisters, thank you to ALL OF YOU - we share this victory together.

“This last week has been especially… beyond words An incident that was just me trying to defend my city and our team galvanized the city. It’s beyond words, my gratitude for all of you always having my back. What can I say? I love y’all. I love this city. I would do anything for this city, and I would do anything for you. I’m so proud to be part of this city and will ALWAYS stand up for you, for what’s right, and like in Harvey, Imelda, and more will always do my best to act QUICKLY and on the side of the people. I love y’all. I could go on and on. God bless you, God bless your family, God bless Houston, God bless Texas and GOD BLESS OUR HOUSTON ASTROS!
