HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with scholarships in 2024. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
Erika Salvador, a remarkable senior from Cypress Woods High School, is our third $2,500 scholarship winner from the Class of 2024. Cypress Woods High School is part of the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District.
Salvador is ranked fourth in a class of 764 students and plans to pursue a degree in Computer Science. She founded a Women in STEM Club at her school and created a free after-school coding class for children at an elementary school in her district.
In her nomination essay, while noting that she is the only female in her Computer Science class, Salvador said she hopes to “continue cultivating environments of inclusivity in all of (her) future endeavors.”
Salvador is also President of her school’s Asian Pacific American Culture Club as well as the Interact Club. She helps lead Cypress Woods High School’s chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
