5 ways to beat the heat in Houston this weekend

If you thought Friday was hot in the Houston area, brace yourself—the heat and humidity will continue to build through the weekend, and our “feels like” temperatures will be in the 100s.

So, we put together this list of 5 ways to beat our extreme heat Saturday and Sunday, before the next chance of storms arrives on Monday. Stay safe out there!

1. Enjoy a frosty adult beverage at one of Houston’s most iconic breweries

3. Enjoy some free water fun at Discovery Green

It’s a Houston classic—splashing around in the 14-foot-high arching jets at Discovery Green’s Gateway Fountain.

Fountain hours are Monday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Swim diapers are required for infants and toddlers, and water shoes are strongly encouraged. Click here for a complete list of park rules.


4. Head to the beach

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, pack up the kids and take the 51-mile drive to Galveston. Its accessible beaches with soft sand and inviting waves are a family favorite for Texans. And there are plenty of activities and amenities on shore, too.

Just be sure to swim safely—there ARE things lurking in the water. 🔽
