Southern Smoke Festival returned to Discovery Green in Houston with food, drinks, and live music -- all for a good cause.
The annual event featured more than 70 food and beverage professionals from across the country.

Proceeds from the festival benefit Southern Smoke Foundation, which has distributed more than $12.7 million to food and beverage workers nationwide and more than 5,700 no cost counseling sessions. Donations to help can be made at any time.

The founding director of Southern Smoke Foundation (SSF) is James Beard award-winning chef Chris Shepherd.
He is also the host of “Eat Like a Local with Chris Shepherd” which airs on KPRC 2 Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. He and his wife Lindsey Brown, who is the executive director for SSF, recently appeared on “Houston Life” to talk about the organization and its positive impact on people in the food and beverage industry.
