Vehicle thefts in Houston are declining: How $1 made a difference

HOUSTON, Texas – Each year, Houston police officers say roughly 16,000 cars, trucks, and vans are stolen.

That number increases with the number of vehicles broken into. There is a good chance you or someone you know had to deal with this kind of crime.

In Texas, these thieves not only rob residents of their sense of security but also their time and hard-earned money.

The Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority of Texas reports vehicle thefts and burglaries resulted in $4 billion in losses in 2023.
