Just days before Christmas, a family in Houston faced their worst nightmare.

“We’re praying for a Christmas miracle,” Crystal Adams said.

Erick and Crystal Adams, along with their three children, lost their home this past Sunday to a fire that originated in the garage.

Around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Erick was on a Zoom call for work. By 11 a.m., he had come downstairs to prepare lunch when he heard a loud bang on the door from his neighbor.

“I come outside, my garage is like half cracked a little bit, maybe about a quarter. And I see a cardboard box on fire” Erick recounted.

When he attempted to move the box, it disintegrated in his grasp, leaving him with a severe burn on his hand.

“It’s very hard to see your life go up in flames. It’s one thing to see it in a movie, but it’s one thing to see it in front of your eyes” Erick expressed.

Despite the tragedy, the couple remained remarkably optimistic.

Repeatedly, they affirmed, “God is so good,” as they discussed their losses. Instead of succumbing to despair, the family expressed gratitude for being together and unharmed. “God will rebuild us 10 times better, and I’m not worried about it,” Crystal declared.

“We lost everything—pillows, towels, sheets, a bed... These are things you don’t take for granted,” Crystal shared. The family was particularly heartbroken over the loss of gifts intended for their daughter, Elizabeth, affectionately known as “Lamb Chop.”

“She wanted all those decorations under the tree this year. We were going with a Candy Land theme,” Crystal explained, gesturing towards the remnants of their home.

“Sitting here holding my dogs, looking at my life, go up in flames, crying. But the Lord would not let me shed a tear. Not a single tear fell down, because we are a living testimony” Erick expressed as he took a final look at the family home.

Currently, the family is staying with relatives while they search for a new home.

Having lost everything, they have set up a GoFundMe page to seek assistance in making ends meet and providing a Christmas for their daughter.

When asked what message she wanted viewers to take away, Crystal stated, “Despite everything, we are thankful and give God the glory”.
