HOUSTON – Take the family to enjoy the unofficial start of the holiday season in Houston, the Galleria 30th annual tree lighting.The free event is the largest event at the mall and it’s possible thanks to 50 Galleria elves who put it the tree together.
The lighting of the 55-foot Christmas tree is an iconic tradition that culminates with a firework display.
“We have 10,000 people attending who can view the show at the two levels above the ice rink. It’s really exciting," said Marichu Ricablanca, assistant marketing director at The Galleria, who stopped by our studio with more details of what you can expect and the special performances at the ice rink.
“Student skaters and professional skaters, even a skating Santa, Angelica Hale will perform and she’ll also lead the countdown of the lighting of the tree,” said Ricablanca.
