Houstonians know a lot about how the hot, humid Texas summers can drive up energy costs.
Even if you’re new to the area, you know it can be overwhelming just trying to decide with electricity plan is right for you and your family.
To really figure out how to pick out the right electricity plan, it takes a lot of math, according to Jeff Cocking, director of operations for Power Wizard. It takes algorithms, he said, and you really kind of need to excel at Excel to be able to figure that out.
“In Texas, you can pay some of the lowest prices in the country, or you can pay some of the highest, depending on how active you are from a shopping perspective,” Cocking said, adding that more than 70% of Texans are paying too much for electricity.
Cocking had one important tip for customers: Each year when it comes time to renew, do some shopping around.
